Johnny Richardson

Johnny Richardson is a singer and guitarist from Draper, Utah.  He is currently a Senior at Utah State University (USU) and is majoring in both Vocal and Guitar Performance.  His childhood fascination with music led to him to start playing guitar at age 8, violin at age 10, and begin voice lessons at age 14.  Since then, he’s also learned piano, bass guitar, banjo, ukulele, and mandolin.  Johnny started performing in high school, studying voice with Doris Brunatti.  He was a part of the Hillcrest High Vocal Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, and theatre program, where he played Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Frank Sr. in Catch Me if You Can.  

Since attending Utah State, he has studied under Grammy Award winning tenor Thomas Glenn and internationally acclaimed jazz guitarist Corey Christiansen.  Johnny’s recent roles at USU include Collatinus in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia, Pedrillo in The Abduction from the Seraglio, and Anatole in Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812.  He has also recently portrayed Peter in Rob Gardner’s Lamb of God at the Logan Tabernacle. 

Johnny is an experienced event musician. Beginning in 2024, he was hired as a featured singing guitarist for Pizzeria Limone.  He can also be seen at other venues around Salt Lake City including Tin Roof Grill, where he delivers crowd-pleasing sets for a wide variety of audiences. In addition to public performances, he plays at private events, weddings, corporate gatherings, and community festivals, tailoring his sets to suit each unique occasion.

As a private music instructor, Johnny is available to teach guitar, violin, and voice to students of all ages. He specializes in building confidence and skill in a wide range of musical styles, with a focus on technique, creativity, and expression. Whether on stage or in a lesson, Johnny’s goal is always the same: to share the joy of music in a way that connects, inspires, and uplifts.
